Welcome to Phoenix, AZ

Phoenix grew from a desert settlement into a thriving Southwestern capital.

Ancient Hohokam communities first built canals across the Salt River Valley. Those waterways helped later settlers create farms and communities in the desert. The city took its name from the mythical phoenix. Like the legendary bird, Phoenix rose from the remains of an earlier civilization. Today, the city blends Native American heritage, Western history, and modern desert culture. Downtown Phoenix features historic theaters, contemporary towers, museums, restaurants, and colorful public art. Spanish-influenced architecture stands beside sleek glass buildings. Shaded walkways and landscaped courtyards provide welcome breaks from the Arizona sun. The city’s cultural scene includes live theater, music, sports, and visual arts. Heritage Square preserves part of the original townsite, while the Orpheum Theatre recalls Hollywood’s golden age. A Scavenger Hunt in Phoenix, AZ brings these stories together through active exploration. Your route begins near the Herberger Theater and Arizona Center. Then, you’ll discover Victorian history at Heritage Square and ornate details at the Orpheum Theatre. Hotel San Carlos adds old Phoenix glamour to the journey. Each clue encourages you to notice architecture, monuments, and hidden details. You won’t simply walk past downtown landmarks. You’ll study them, solve their secrets, and experience Phoenix in a new way.

It’s just fun to be with someone…

It’s just fun to be with someone looking for all the clues given and learning about the town as you go

Great (economical) way around Catalina

Great (economical) way to see some significant points of interest on Catalina. The walking was easy – for us retired folk – and fine for the baby taken along for the walk. You were never too far from the Center of town so coffee and lunch could be fit right in. Loved it!

I was reluctant about this at first but after we started and finished it was fun. Looking forward to doing it again

We’ve lived in Tucson for many years…

We’ve lived in Tucson for many years and learned some interesting history from the tour. Some clues could be adjusted to make sure we were at the right location. One clue dinged us even though we entered the answer exactly as expected (it gave us the same answer we inputted and said we missed it). Still, for such a short tour, it was well done.
